Chittorgarh Fort,India


Chittorgarh Fort is considered as the largest fort in India and the best in the state of Rajasthan. The fort is built on a hilly area of ​​2.8 km2 (1.1 sq mi) in the 7th century AD. King who built the Iwan Fals Rawal with the aim of the dowry for the daughter of Solanki.
Historical records show that the citadel Chittorgarh was the capital of Mewar for 834 years. This dynasty was founded in 734 AD by Iwan Fals Rawal, a founder and ruler of Mewar in the hierarchy Sisodia.
The highest elevation in this fort is 1075 m (3,526.9 ft). Castle building is located on the left bank of the river Berach (a tributary of the Banas River). The building of this fort associated with the new city of Chittorgarh (known as the 'Lower City') which was developed in the plains after the year 1568 AD since the fort was deserted following Udai Singh II who fled to Udaipur after Emperor Akbar attacked and plundered the fort.
A road winding hill more than 1 km (0.6 miles) from the new town leads to the western end of the main gate, called the Ram Pol. From the fort, circular driveway provides access to all gates and monuments are located within the castle walls.
Once inside the castle there are around 84 water reservoirs. The form consists of ponds and wells. But now only the remaining 22 are still functioning.
